Missions

Epiq’s low SWaP-C processing solutions have proven crucial to hundreds of missions over more than a decade. Whether it’s defense, space, or commercial use, our SDRs are designed to deliver maximum performance with minimal size, weight and power.

ATTRITABLE

ATTRITABLE

Attritable platforms are an emerging trend, focusing on the development and deployment of extremely low SWaP and cost-effective unmanned systems. Attritable RF payloads can support communications, signal detection/classification, direction finding, and RF denial of service techniques. Instead of traditional, high-value asset deployment, attritable and expendable platforms are single-use, deployed with a “launch and forget” mindset. Epiq supports these deployments with SDRs smaller than a gum stick.

ENABLING SMALL PAYLOADS

Epiq’s tiny and extremely low power SDRs can enable cost sensitive, high volume attritable applications such as UxS swarms.

PAYLOAD

PAYLOAD

Airborne payloads allow for RF customization of an airframe for an application-specific RF mission. There are a range of payload specifications: AgilePod, Modular (Mod) Payload, and SOSA aligned 3U VPX and emerging VNX+ chassis-based payloads, and small airframes often require a custom, non standardized payload architecture. Epiq’s small form factor, SOSA aligned, and mod payload SDRs enable a wide range of airframes to meet their RF requirements.

MOD PAYLOAD

In addition to Epiq's internal mod payload SDRs, Epiq's small form factor SDRs have also been embedded and deployed in 3rd party mod payload form factor products.

OPEN ARCHITECTURE

Epiq’s 3U VPX open architecture SDRs and RF tuners can be easily integrated into SOSA aligned payloads for rapid development and deployment.

OPEN ARCHITECTURE

OPEN ARCHITECTURE

SOSA and CMOSS are decreasing cost, expanding innovation, and encouraging competition. With the ability to mix and match top hardware and software providers, system integrators can rapidly create and deploy new technology capabilities. Form factors like 3U VPX and VNX+ allow for the open architecture approach to scale to smaller platforms and deployment domains. Epiq has a wide range of SOSA aligned SDRs and RF tuners, ranging from low SWaP to industry leading RF performance.

MORA SUPPORT

Epiq has been an active member of the SOSA (Sensor Open Systems Architecture) consortium since 2019, and provides MORA 2.5 support for its SOSA-aligned 3U VPX SDRs. Our solutions use modular designs and come widely supported, designed to reduce development time and simplify integration.

VITA49 AND OPEN APIs

To simplify SDR integration and development, we offer open APIs. Smaller SDR modules (like our MiniPCIe, M.2, and FMC form factor cards) designed for integration into a host system use our libsidekiq API, while other box level solutions (like NV800) use VITA49 with a separate command/control API.

EMBEDDED AND SMALL
FORM FACTOR

Utilizing standards-compliant form factors such as MiniPCIe, M.2, and FPGA Mezzanine Card (FMC) to provide SDR functionality enables rapid integration and development of a complete RF processing system.  By combining an embedded SDR with a COTS embedded compute platform such as an NVIDIA® Jetson Orin™ NX or Raspberry Pi, customers can demonstrate and field prototype RF solutions faster than ever.

CUSTOMIZABLE PLATFORMS

SDR platforms like Epiq’s Matchstiq G40 combine two Sidekiq NV100 SDRs (each in an M.2 2280 card form factor) with an Nvidia Orin NX CPU/GPU module. One SDR can be replaced with an M.2 2280 SSD to enable RF recording and playback applications.

LOWEST SWaP ON THE MARKET

Embedded small form factor SDRs, such as Sidekiq Z2, take COTS SDR system integration further than ever. We combined a complete 1x1 RF transceiver and Linux computer on a card measuring just 30mm x 51mm x 5mm: creating the smallest commercially available SDR processing system.

MANPACK & DISMOUNT

MANPACK & DISMOUNT

“Every soldier as a sensor” has been a theme in the DoD for years. Now that SDR technology can integrate flexible RF transceivers with embedded computers and high-capacity batteries, it’s possible to field an array of capabilities in manpack, handheld, and bodyworn deployment scenarios. Open architecture SDRs like our 3U VPX SOSA-aligned VPX400 work well for manpack deployments, with more integrated SDRs such as our Matchstiq X40 for handheld and bodyworn systems.

launched-effects-right
payloads-icon-01

INTEGRATED SOLUTIONS

Matchstiq X40 is a multi-channel SDR transceiver supporting RF access up to 18 GHz, with an embedded NVIDIA® Jetson Orin™ NX CPU/GPU for advanced signal processing and AI/ML applications. Epiq’s Matchstiq Z3u is even smaller (the size of a deck of cards) and can mount to a tablet or mobile phone.

payloads-icon-01

MODULAR OPEN ARCHITECTURE APPROACH

For systems where modularity is of value, Epiq’s SOSA-aligned 3U VPX portfolio offers a range of SDR card options for manpack deployments. For smaller handheld and bodyworn systems, Epiq’s Sidekiq NV100 and Z2 provide the highest levels of integration in standards compliant form factors to simplify integration.
