Job Description
Epiq Solutions is seeking an experienced full-time PCB Layout designer to join our crew developing next generation software defined radio (SDR) modules and turnkey RF sensing solutions. The ideal candidate for this position will have extensive experience working side-by-side with an engineering team to translate schematic designs into fully routed printed circuit boards, as well as experience working with a production team to manufacture these routed boards aligned to our specifications. Our hardware designs often include RF (typically up to 6 GHz, and going as high as 40 GHz), as well as high speed digital (16 GHz and beyond), complex power supply topologies, and everything in between. Bringing complex RF together with FPGAs and embedded computing is what we do well, and we are known in the SDR industry for setting the bar when it comes to performance and functionality in very size/weight/power-constrained designs.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Electronic component library creation and management
- Working with the hardware and mechanical engineering team on initial component placement
- Analyzing and proposing PCB stackup options based on design constraints
- PCB routing and design rule checking
- Working with the engineering team to support simulation of electrical/mechanical performance requirements for the design
- Generation of PCB data packages to support manufacturing of the PCB
- Working with PCB vendors to ensure a design is manufacturable
- Supporting Epiq’s production team with the needed documentation including assembly drawings, PCB fabrication documents, electrical component BOMs
- Posting of approved Data Packages, PCB BOMS and Specifications into PLM System
Skills and Experience
Required
- 5+ years of proven experience developing PCB layouts for complex mixed-signal hardware
- Experience with IPC-A-600 Class 2 standards
- Experience with PCB layout of high speed digital (including FPGA MGT and DDR3/DDR4)
- Experience with PCB layout of RF circuit designs operating up to 3 GHz (minimum), and ideally up to 6 GHz
- Experience with Altium CAD versions 17 (or later) or equivalent industry experience with other PCB layout tools
Desired
- Experience with IPC-A-600 Class 3 standards
- Experience with MIL-STD-810 and the design criteria required to support compliance
- Experience with Altium version 20 or beyond
